South Daytona Fire Department
Residents may drop off needles, lancets and diabetic testing strips in approved red sharps containers without charge. Upon dropping off their container, the resident can pick up a free 1.4 quart container. One free sharps container per household, per month. A sign in sheet at the FD will record residents name, address, email, phone number and date.
For homebound residents who are unable to drop off containers, CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) members will deliver and pick up containers. If our residents decide not to participate in this program, the fire department still encourages the proper disposal of medical sharps.
