Sharps must be in a hard opaque plastic bottle or metal puncture resistant resistant container, no larger than 2 gallons, with a screw-on cap, such as a used rinsed bleach bottle or detergent bottle. When the container is 3/4 full, tape the lid tightly onto the container with packing or contstruction-grade tape. Write "SHARPS" on the outside of the container.
It is against the law in the state of California to dispose of sharps in the household trash.
