Sharps must be in a sharps container or a hard sided plastic container, such as a bleach or laundry detergent bottle, with a secure lid. Containers that held a food product are not appropriate for use. Container must be marked "BIOHAZARD."
It is against the law in the state of California to dispose of sharps in the household trash.
