Hospitals and nursing homes in New York State are mandated by law to accept properly contained, home-generated sharps.
In the City of Syracuse, home-generated sharps can be placed in a sharps container or a sealed, hard plastic container labeled "SHARPS," and then either placed next to trash for weekly curbside pickup or brought to a disposal location.
